Envases Group is expanding global presence by the plan to open its first aluminum beverage can production and distribution center in Waco, Texas. The Waco operation will focus on aluminum beverage containers commonly used for soft drinks, beers, energy drinks, teas and non-carbonated beverages.

POSITION: Process Engineer

Description

The Process Engineer provides technical support to the production line by improving inefficiencies, supporting the operators, coordinating problem solving efforts, etc. This position will be involved from commissioning, startup and turnover to operations. This position requires a proven problem solver and equipment owner serving as a technical resource for the production infrastructure. Ultimate responsibility for the efficient, safe, and reliable operating condition of the site manufacturing delivery is critical to our business success. In addition, it is expected that this individual will mentor and oversee a team of operators, as well as work with the planner on preventative maintenance programs to enhance reliability.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Continually improve production operations by additional machine uptime or speed, lower costs, and reliability; improve production operations with the installation or improvement of machines that reduce cost, improve quality, and improve productivity
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, schematics, parts catalogs, and consultation with suppliers and other knowledgeable outside personnel as necessary
  • Operate such that all efforts reduce repetitive causes and Root Cause is determined and resolved to prevent a repeat of problems
  • Establish and maintain a standard of documentation that allows quick retrieval of machine information and optimizes the repair process
  • Demonstrate an overriding concern for the safe conduct of all mechanical and electrical repair operations, observing all PPE requirements for every job.
  • Manage all projects with a Project Management Method that clearly defines the objectives and organizes the tasks against a schedule timeline.
  • Create work instructions for new and existing processes
  • Design and implement projects such that they are achieved on time and under budget while accomplishing the identified goals for the Company
  • Operate in a manner that sets a "world class" performance for engineering, design, MRO operations, and legal compliance
  • Effectively communicate all planned work to the organization and establish the engineering and maintenance function as a benchmark for collaborative work and successful accomplishment within the Company
  • Complete various process analysis to identify reliability risks and justify reliability expenditures. Analyses may include:
    • Reliability modeling and prediction
    • Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System
    • Vulnerability Studies and assistance in performing vulnerability studies, and prioritizing action items based on risks to reliability
    • Analysis of production data to determine trends and developing and executing action plans to address common issues
  • Develop and own process plans incorporating technical data revisions and deviations as required
  • Establish baseline & process limits (benchmarking) for major equipment
  • Facilitate development of and improvements to control plans based on process capabilities of each line
  • Coordinate process support for diagnosing quality issues
  • Facilitate technical support with plants to resolve refractory issues
  • Identify tooling issues, develop recommended strategy for resolution and provide recommendations for tooling purchases
  • Develop relevant training path and courses for plant operators
  • Assist and train maintenance, production or other technicians as needed with technical or troubleshooting related matters
  • Ability to work in a team environment, record data in a computer system, communicate with multiple departments, and complete work orders and preventative maintenance on equipment indoors and outdoors
  • Participate in the safety programs and/or committees; follow all site safety policies, company policies and procedures work safely and wear appropriate PPE
  • Effectively communicating and engaging with other functional groups at all levels from craft persons and operators to plant leadership
  • Be an agent of change, demonstrating and encouraging positive behaviors
  • Insure that all operations are conducted with complete compliance to all Federal, State and local codes and environmental laws
  • Manage subcontractors in effort to complete necessary improvements


POSITION REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Required - Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 1 years' experience serving as an engineer in a metalworking industry, industrial maintenance, manufacturing or food industry
  • Strong foundation in statistical process control, engineering change control and process release strategies, required
  • Project management experience, preferred
  • Plant Reliability / Maintenance Management experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to perform in a 24-hour / 7-day week continuous operation
  • Prefer experience in maintenance and repair of machining/manufacturing systems or experience in an industrial continuous process manufacturing environment


GENERAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Good level of assertiveness to challenge and support the team
  • Working knowledge & understanding of statistical process control tools and statistical analysis
  • Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems, Lab equipment and Control Plans
  • Working knowledge & understanding of engine and equipment technical manuals, as well as, knowledge and understanding of typical engine instrumentation and control systems
  • Working knowledge of refractories, including installation and application
  • Understanding engineering, scientific and other technical information
  • Demonstrated ability of budgeting and cost control
  • Work requires the ability to perform complex engineering computations
  • Working knowledge of all automation standard practices
  • Ability to read and interpret P&ID drawings, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical schematics for use in system understanding and troubleshooting
  • Strong organizational skills and proven ability to maintain accurate, detailed records that will be audited periodically; Ability to work on multiple projects at once with tight deadlines
  • Must be able to identify and execute improvement opportunities through both process improvements and system improvements
  • Travel required for training and to regularly conduct business with and meet with vendors/suppliers
  • Must be a self-starter and have the desire and ability to take ownership and responsibility with little direction
  • Ability to be pragmatic in decision making; requires high integrity
  • Ability to work with employees from many different cultures and backgrounds
  • Preference will be given to qualified local candidates

SOFTWARE/COMPUTER SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • General knowledge of basic hardware and software and uses of a variety of different computer operating systems such as Microsoft Office Work, Excel, Outlook, Google Workspace, and web-site software
  • PLC user or programming experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred
  • Knowledge in Data Acquisition concepts, hardware, and interfacing
